Home & garden UGC creators

Here the video is shot in a real room, and the room carries half the message. A cleaning product in an actual kitchen says something a neutral backdrop cannot.

What to pin down in the brief

  1. The room you expect

Kitchen, bathroom, outdoors: the setting is not interchangeable. Say which, and whether it should look tidy or lived in.

  2. Before and after

Many products show themselves by comparison. If you want one, write down what has to stay comparable between the two shots: framing, light, distance.

  3. How long the action really takes

Dwell time or drying time cannot be shown live. State whether you accept a cut, and what it has to leave visible.

What gets ordered most here

The before and after

The same framing, twice. The most demonstrative format in the sector, and the most demanding: without identical framing the comparison proves nothing.

The assembly

The object put together, from box to use. Long to shoot, but it answers the most common objection online: will I manage it.

The object in place

Used in a real home, not presented on a table. That is what separates UGC from a product page.

Questions particular to this niche

Should the action be shown end to end?
Say so explicitly. An action cut short in the edit makes it look faster than it is, and that is the complaint you will read in your comments afterwards.
Can I require a type of home?
You can ask in the brief, but it narrows things a great deal. A creator with no garden cannot invent one, and it is better they decline before accepting.
Is background noise a problem?
At home, almost always: ventilation, street, appliances. If the voice carries the message, ask for clean sound and accept that the creator does another take.
